Dr. John Grbac

John Grbac, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist, certified family mediator, and qualified parenting coordinator who specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents.  He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida in 1992.  Dr. Grbac received his graduate training at the Florida Institute of Technology, and in 1996 completed his internship at the Bradley Center of St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.  Dr. Grbac has been in private practice since 1997, and currently operates his own outpatient private practice in downtown Orlando, Florida.  The office is very welcoming and provides a comfortable atmosphere for children and families.

“Dr. John’s” child-friendly approach gives him an advantage when establishing rapport with a younger population. He specializes in the treatment of child/adolescent emotional and behavioral problems to include mood, anxiety, and behavioral disorders.  The treatment modalities he utilizes include play, individual, and family therapy.

When working with children, Dr. John instructs parents on behavior modification techniques and assists in resolving family issues.  He has extensive professional experience with divorce issues and facilitates “co-parenting” skills and communication between separating/divorced spouses.  He is a certified family mediator and qualified parenting coordinator.  Dr. Grbac also developed and teaches an educational program, Coping with Divorce, designed for divorcing parents with minor children.

Dr. Grbac provides specific evaluations and treatment for AD/HD and is one of the founders of the Central Florida CHADD support group.  Dr. John also has expertise in the areas of child abuse and sexual abuse intervention.  He is a member of the Victim’s Services Coalition of Central Florida and received the Mental Health Services Provider Award in 2000.  Dr. Grbac assists survivors in coping with anxiety and phobias, domestic violence, child abuse issues, and other difficulties relating to trauma.  Dr. Grbac was featured on the NBC Today Show segment “Live for Today” in 2005, recruited for his expertise with anxiety disorders.


Dr. Grbac is well versed in psychological assessment and conducts psychological evaluations to assess intellectual ability and achievement level, personality and emotional functioning, and sexual abuse issues.   When requested by the court, he evaluates parenting abilities and conducts custody/parenting plan evaluations.

Dr. Grbac has served as an adjunct faculty member for several colleges locally, most recently at Rollins College.  He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Florida Psychological Association.   Dr. John has also been  featured on the Golf Channels youth program and competition, Drive, Chip & Putt and consulted with The Learning Channel on a segment related to ADHD and families.  During his free time he enjoys coaching youth soccer, exercising, golf,  fishing, watching stock car racing, the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
