Monica Pedemonte, Psy.D. is a graduate of Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where her doctorate in Psychology was conferred in 1985. Her year long internship at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, was followed by a two-year externship at Metro Dade Department of Family and Children.

Most of Dr. Pedemonte’s career has been in private practice, where she has treated patients from 6 years to 80+ years old. Her practice has been general in scope, with particular skill in treating depression, anxiety, as well as disturbances related to medical disabilities, terminal illnesses and grieving. For years, she has been committed to serving veterans and their families. In addition, she has expertise in treating minorities, especially Latin Americans, as she is bilingual and bicultural.

Dr. Pedemonte was born in Mendoza, Argentina. At nine years old, her family emigrated to the United States, where they lived in Chicago, Illinois. The next few years taught her invaluable lessons about immigrant status, ethnic minorities, assimilation, and preserving a sense of cultural identity and cultural pride. From these experiences grew an interest and sensitivity in treating people who because of their race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, or medical disability feel marginalized in the community at large.
