Coping With Divorce

Dr. Grbac is a licensed psychologist and certified family mediator who has extensive professional experience with divorce issues. He has served as a court-approved instructor of parenting workshops for divorcing parents since 1997. Dr. Grbac and his staff are able to deliver an influential presentation of sensitive information involving a very emotional subject matter to parents in the best interest of their children.

Coping with Divorce is an educational program designed for separating and divorcing parents. The workshop is designed to be presented in a four-hour session with times and locations established to meet the needs of most parents.
The program was originally approved by the Ninth and Eighteenth Circuit Courts (Greater Central Florida Area), and is also approved by the State of Florida Department of of Children and Families.

The Program goals include the following:

  • Increase parental awareness and knowledge of issues that impact children of divorce.
  • Develop effective strategies for coping with child and parent problems frequently associated with divorce.
  • Minimize the emotional and psychological consequences to the family associated with the process of divorce.
  • Increase an understanding of the legal aspects of divorce and gain awareness of available support through community resources.
  • Gain essential and effective communication skills that encourage healthy parent interactions, and healthy child-parent relationships.

Pre-payment is necessary to reserve seating and must be made at least one day prior to your scheduled class. Plan to attend the seminar in which you have registered. Please do not bring children. If you prefer not to attend the same program as your child’s other parent, please make those arrangements prior to registration. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the program start to ensure credit for your attendance. Late arrivals will not be allowed access to the classroom and no refunds will be issued. Full program attendance is required to receive a certificate of completion.

The class is conveniently and centrally located at Dr. Grbac’s private practice office in downtown Orlando. Classes are regularly held on Saturday morning from 9am-1pm. The cost of the workshop is $40.00 per parent (check or cash only). Dr.Grbac’s office is located at 1630 Hillcrest Street, Orlando.

Dr. Grbac also assists families coping with divorce at his downtown Orlando office. Dr. John is a licensed psychologist and certified family mediator who specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. “Dr. John’s” child-friendly approach gives him an advantage when establishing rapport with a younger population. On a daily basis, Dr. John helps children and teens in dealing with the loss and changes of divorce. He regularly helps to facilitate “co-parenting” skills and communication between separating/divorced spouses. Dr. Grbac may serve families as a Mediator, Parenting Coordinator, and is trained in Collaborative Law. Lastly, he is also available to evaluates parenting ability and conducts custody/parenting plan evaluations.
